MEDICAL QIGONG

Anxious to bring China's economy into order and to drastically reduce health-care costs, the Chinese government has finally forced its secrecy to be uncloaked and opened its practices to the Chinese people, so anybody has the opportunity to learn these health-promoting and self-healing exercises. Recently, it has spread to the West and to the rest of the world. In order to prove Medical Qigong's well-known multitudes of health benefits, it has been studied and tested intensely, clinically and experimentally, by Chinese scientists. Medical Qigong exercises are now practised by millions of Chinese people for health benefits. Medical Qigong therapeutic healing treatments are recognised and integrated into the mainstream medical system in China, as a standard treatment technique used to treat patients in the hospitals and in the clinics.

WESTERN MEDICINE

Western medicine is starting to recognise the ancient Oriental view of health as a holistic interaction of mind, body and spirit. The Chinese concept of Qi (pronounced "chee"), or energy flow within and without the body, sees pain as caused by energy blockages or stagnation. These can be attributed to external lifestyle factors such as trauma, diet and environment; or to internal factors such as emotions and beliefs. Researchers in psychoneuroimmunology have recently validated the effectiveness of QiGong treatments. Today both Western and Chinese medical systems collaborate to speed healing and enhance overall well-being, as mind and body influence each other.

Persistent pain is a body signal that should not be ignored. Pain is the body's way of indicating something is wrong. If pain is the result of poor postural habits, it may be corrected simply by proper postural adjustment. If pain is the result of energetic disorder, trained energy personnel should handle it.
